Hair Extensions

We offer two options: temporary and permanent. If you want to transform your look—whether adding length or changing color—without a lot of time or commitment, temporary clip-in extensions get the job done. For something longer lasting, permanent extensions using tape-in or sewn-in methods provide instant volume and length that can last 4 to 12 months. A consultation with one of our expert stylists will help determine the best option for your hair, desired outcome, lifestyle, and budget.

Although we use the term "permanent extensions," nothing lasts forever. As your hair grows, your extensions move lower and need to be adjusted every six to eight weeks.

While it’s okay to go a week or two beyond the recommended move-up or “tightening” time frame, we don’t recommend waiting too long. Doing so can cause your natural hair to break and make the extensions uncomfortable to wear.

Every hair extension consultation includes a discussion of your hair goals. If you want to match your hair color, we can do that. This may require custom coloring, which is easily done since we use 100% human hair. Custom coloring does incur an additional cost.

Nope! You don’t need to do anything different to style your extensions. Use the products you love and the styling tools you’re used to. The only difference you might notice is that it takes longer to style your hair because there’s more of it!

Extensions are an investment, so it’s important to care for them properly. With proper care, your permanent extensions can last much longer.

Start by using the correct brush. We recommended a boar bristle brush or a detangling brush.

Brushing technique matters, too. Gentle brushing throughout the day helps prevent tangling and redistributes your hair’s natural oils. Be sure to brush from the bottom and work your way up to the scalp, which reduces breakage and minimizes tension on the attachment points.

Did you know hair is weakest when wet? To avoid damage, brush your hair when it’s dry. Detangling your extensions before wetting them helps keep them looking their best for longer.

Use a hydrating, sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. Professional hair care products will keep your extensions soft, supple, and beautiful.

At The Color Room, we want you to enjoy your extensions and have all the information you need to care for them. Before you leave, your stylist will review the proper care techniques with you.

The first installation typically takes the longest. Time in the chair depends on how many rows you need and whether the installation is temporary or permanent. It also includes blending your natural hair with the extensions and styling. Plan to spend three to four hours for the first installation. Move-up or tightening appointments take less time, usually between one and a half to two hours.

We use Remy hair extensions made from 100% human hair.

We recommend you always see your stylist for hair extension removal. Attempting at-home removal can damage your hair and scalp. Our stylists use gentle removal techniques ensuring you walk out of the salon with healthy, natural hair.
